Job Description
The ideal apprenticeship for young adults passionate about natural sciences and chemical-physical processes!
You will work in various areas of research:
- Assisting in the development and characterisation of chemical compounds and optimisation of their manufacturing processes
- Planning experiments based on literature research
- Conducting experiments to produce chemical compounds or answer analytical questions
- Using glass apparatus and laboratory technology, such as synthesis robots
- Examining chemical substances with highly precise analytical instruments, for example for their purity or chemical structure
- Recording and evaluating data and measurement series
- Documenting and analysing experiments
The training lasts 3 years, including 6 months of basic training in our teaching laboratory on the ETH Hönggerberg campus. During the apprenticeship, you will rotate between different workplaces and thus get to know ETH from various perspectives.
Profile
You enjoy experimenting and are interested in chemistry, physics and mathematics as well as working with electronic devices and complex apparatus. In addition, you have good observational skills, fine motor skills, are reliable and have a careful, structured and precise working style. With your ability to think in a connected way, you approach experiments with sufficient perseverance and patience.
You need a compulsory school leaving certificate for this apprenticeship and good grades in the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- English
- IT skills are an advantage
