Gruner Stucky is a Swiss engineering company, part of the Gruner group, specialising in sustainable solutions for water and energy. A key player in hydroelectricity, it is involved throughout the entire project lifecycle, from feasibility studies to commissioning and rehabilitation of facilities.
As part of our activities in Switzerland, and particularly in French-speaking Switzerland, we are looking for a hydroelectric development engineer to join our team of specialised engineers and designers in Martigny or Sion. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our current services for the design and enhancement of the safety and performance of hydroelectric infrastructure, while contributing to the development and maintenance of strong client relationships. Your expertise will enable the proposal of innovative, sustainable technical solutions that comply with the most demanding engineering standards:
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
Required ProfileAs part of our activities in Switzerland, and particularly in French-speaking Switzerland, we are looking for a hydroelectric development engineer to join our team of specialised engineers and designers in Martigny or Sion. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our current services for the design and enhancement of the safety and performance of hydroelectric infrastructure, while contributing to the development and maintenance of strong client relationships. Your expertise will enable the proposal of innovative, sustainable technical solutions that comply with the most demanding engineering standards:
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Design of new hydroelectric developments (Greenfield) in Switzerland, particularly in Valais, from initial design phases to realisation
- Study of rehabilitation and upgrading of existing developments or power plants
- Coordination/implementation of evaluation studies of hydraulic structures such as intakes, headrace tunnels, lined shafts, penstocks and tailrace channels
- Experience in head loss calculations and producible simulation
- Cost estimation and preparation of implementation budgets
- Preparation of tender documents, evaluation for awarding and contract drafting
- Proactive collaboration with engineering and modelling teams
- Site supervision
- Experience in the design and sizing of hydroelectric structures
- General understanding and knowledge of electromechanical and hydromechanical equipment of hydroelectric developments
- Degree from a Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPF), University of Applied Sciences (HES) or equivalent
- At least 5 years of proven experience in hydroelectricity-related projects
- Good knowledge of Swiss standards and guidelines
- Oral and written communication skills in French are mandatory. Proficiency in German and English is an advantage
