About the job
We are mandated by our client, a service company, to find their new:
Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (m/f)
You supervise the company’s financial processes and ensure the integrity as well as the accuracy of the accounts and financial statements in accordance with the applicable accounting standards.
You identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives in a quest for operational efficiency and cost control.
As a member of the management committee, you support the CEO in the operational management of the company by producing reliable and relevant financial information.
You oversee the entirety of the company’s accounting cycles and are responsible for:
- the production of accounting entries within the framework of monthly closings (provisions, accruals)
- the definition and implementation of appropriate accounting processes to ensure monthly account maintenance (balance sheet and income statement) in accordance with applicable accounting standards
- the rigorous monitoring of general and subsidiary accounting, as well as the establishment of controls to proactively detect errors
- managing the transition to statutory audit in coordination with the audit body
- coordinating the annual audit and preparing the audited accounts with the audit body
- defining and adjusting the chart of accounts for the companies
- defining and monitoring the annual accounting calendar
- legal and regulatory watch regarding developments likely to impact accounting standards
In coordination with the Sales and Operations departments, you ensure that customer invoicing is:
- compliant with commercial offers and contracts
- issued promptly
- compliant with legal requirements (notably regarding VAT)
- recorded in subsidiary and general accounting according to the accounting closing schedule
Furthermore, you are responsible for:
- maintaining the customer reference data (addresses, contact persons, etc.)
- financial monitoring of payments and deposits
- monitoring unpaid invoices and their collection
Regarding management control and financial reporting, you are responsible for:
- the company’s cost accounting
- margin analyses
- preparing and monitoring the budget according to the analytical axes you have defined
- producing financial reporting to assist company management
Concerning taxation, you are in charge of:
- filing accounts with tax authorities within deadlines
- preparing quarterly VAT returns and liaising with the Federal Tax Administration (FTA)
- supervising and calculating tax provision entries
- dialogue with the tax administration
You ensure the proper functioning of treasury:
- establishing a payment schedule to pay suppliers and employees within legal or contractual deadlines
- managing daily liquidity
- security of payment methods
- implementing required adaptations due to regulatory changes (e.g. structured XML addresses)
You manage your team:
- hierarchical management according to objectives defined jointly with the CEO and Group Financial Director
- verifying and monitoring the training level and skills of your team required to fulfil its mission
- identifying potential recruitment needs
- defining job descriptions and responsibilities within the team
- periodic performance evaluation of employees
You identify, lead and successfully complete projects aimed at improving efficiency and automating processes, notably in:
- monitoring customer invoicing and debt collection
- managing and monitoring employee expense reports
Payroll and social charges management:
You are responsible for the monthly production of salary payment files as well as their accuracy regarding hourly statements, social charges and withholding taxes.
You are also responsible, in coordination with brokerage firms, for managing social insurance and occupational benefits (LPP).
Required knowledge and professional skills
Basic education
- HES or University degree in accounting and finance
- Federal diploma as finance expert
Professional experience
- 5-10 years of professional experience as financial or accounting director of a company or business unit
- Or 10 years of experience in an audit firm or fiduciary company
- Experience in operational finance
- Proven experience in team management and change management (project management)
Languages
French native speaker, very good level of English. German is an asset.
Skills
- Code of Obligations and/or Swiss GAAP
- advanced knowledge of Swiss and Geneva taxation
- financial reporting and margin analysis
IT skills
- knowledge of Abacus is a plus
