Deputy Commander, Full-time Firefighter at 80%

Born from the association of 40 Vaud municipalities, the regional SDIS of North Vaud ensures fire defence, rescue, and protection against pollution and chemical and biological events in the North Vaud territory. With over 230 volunteer firefighters distributed across various intervention units, the regional SDIS of North Vaud is committed to maintaining a high level of excellence and responsiveness, thanks to the continuous training of its personnel, the maintenance and renewal of its intervention resources, as well as an organisation based on fundamental values oriented towards the common good.

Within this framework, the City of Yverdon-les-Bains is advertising for the Fire Defence and Rescue Service (SDIS)
regional of North Vaud a position of:

Your main responsibilities:

• Participate in the development and implementation of the SDIS strategic orientations.
• Coordinate cross-functional projects.
• Optimise organisational management processes.
• Support the commander in the development of strategic projects and administrative aspects.
• Establish and operate the internal control system.
• Coordinate the implementation of annual objectives.
• Participate in rescue operations as an intervenor.

What we expect from you:

• Holder of a Bachelor’s degree (university or university of applied sciences) or equivalent qualification in law, public administration, business management or management.
• Experience in project management and personnel management.
• Excellent writing skills and impeccable spelling.
• Proficiency in IT tools.
• Strong communication, cooperation and negotiation skills.
• Analytical ability and multidisciplinary strategic vision.
• Stress resistance and strong organisational capacity.
• Experience as a volunteer firefighter is an asset.
• Incorporation as a volunteer firefighter within the North Vaud SDIS.
