About the job
The Finance Department of the City of Lausanne is responsible for the financial and accounting management of the City. It oversees the management of budgetary processes (operating and investment), budget monitoring, and the account closing procedure in collaboration with the Administrative Directorates. We wish to welcome a Master-level intern to contribute to financial planning, treasury, and financial risk management tasks, as well as to the development of associated management and Business Intelligence tools.
Depending on training requirements, it is possible to complete a Master’s thesis related to the internship topics.
Duration
Internship contract lasting from 6 to 12 months
Main Mission(s)
Contribute to the development of financial planning and Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau or equivalent), enabling the correlation of accounts, budgets, investments, treasury, and debt
Participate in monitoring and forecasting the City’s cash flows and analysing the main factors influencing liquidity and financing needs
Contribute to forward-looking analyses related to debt and financing, particularly concerning the debt trajectory and structure as well as future financing needs
Participate in the analysis of financial risks, notably interest rate and currency risks, and in the evaluation of various hedging strategies
Contribute, together with the relevant Directorates, to the analysis of certain financial flows and exposures, especially in relation to electricity and gas markets
Contribute to documenting treasury and financial planning processes as well as identifying possibilities for improvement, reliability enhancement, or automation
Profile
Master’s student in finance, economics, management, or equivalent training
Good analytical skills and an interest in finance, data, and Business Intelligence
Familiarity with accounting and financial analysis concepts
Very good command of Excel
Proficiency in Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau or equivalent), as well as knowledge of SQL, databases, or automation, is an advantage
