Mechanical Engineer specialised in Welding (IWE / IWT)

Your mission:

Within the mechanical unit, you participate in study, maintenance, and repair projects on hydroelectric facilities and equipment in the fields of mechanical engineering and welding.
In collaboration with other engineers and our workshops based in Martigny, you provide your technical expertise to support specialised maintenance activities and the development of solutions tailored to operational needs.

Your responsibilities:

• Provide technical support to maintenance managers of various hydroelectric facilities
• Develop and implement technical solutions within major rehabilitation projects of hydroelectric installations, in collaboration with different technical units
• Budget the work to be carried out, prepare offers, and provide technical support to sales
• Manage projects respecting costs, deadlines, and quality requirements
• Organise and coordinate interventions by suppliers and internal teams (welders, inspectors), in collaboration with maintenance managers of different sites
• Keep technical documentation of facilities up to date through study or completion reports
• Carry out and supervise manufacturing follow-up as well as acceptance of parts at suppliers and in our workshops
• Participate in coordinating welding activities in our Martigny workshops (DMOS/QMOS/QS) and on intervention sites
• Analyse and verify suppliers’ technical documentation, notably welding specifications

Your skills:

• EPFL or HES engineer in mechanical engineering (or equivalent)
• IWE or IWT certification
• At least 5 years of experience in industry; 3 years’ experience in hydroelectricity is an asset
• Experience in welding (preparation of DMOS, review of welding specifications, design of welded mechanical solutions, manufacturing follow-up and inspections)
• Knowledge and/or certifications in NDT (such as COFREND) are an asset
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage several projects or assignments simultaneously
• Autonomy, analytical mind, and synthesis ability
• Good writing skills (technical documentation)
• Native French or German speaker, good knowledge of the other language is a plus
• Enjoyment of fieldwork, with regular day trips to our various hydroelectric facilities (up to 30% of working time)
