About the job
Do you wish to combine forestry expertise, management and strategic vision in the service of a territory with multiple challenges? The Municipality of Montreux is looking for a committed and unifying personality to lead its forestry section and contribute to the sustainable and resilient management of its forest heritage, particularly in the face of climate, environmental challenges and natural hazards.
The Municipality of Montreux is advertising a position for:
Main tasks:
· Define the strategy and lead the activities of the forestry section
· Unite, support and develop the team
· Manage forestry projects and coordinate contractors
· Plan work programmes, projects and budgets
· Ensure financial, administrative and subsidy monitoring
· Organise the promotion and marketing of forest products
· Develop collaborations and partnerships
· Promote the forest through outreach and awareness-raising activities
· Assume the duties of forest ranger for the Montreux district in accordance with legal provisions
Desired profile:
· Bachelor’s degree in forestry engineering or equivalent HES/university training focused on forestry and/or environment; or forest ranger diploma ES supplemented by specialisations
· Minimum 4 to 5 years’ experience in responsibility for a forestry district, ideally in mountain and/or protective forest
· Proven experience in team management and strong project management skills
· Unifying leadership, autonomy, initiative and ability to work with diverse partners
· Strong sense of planning, organisation and responsibility
· Excellent communication, outreach and negotiation skills
· Good knowledge of forestry and environmental issues: climate change, natural hazards, forest fires, biodiversity and environmental protection
· Good knowledge of federal, cantonal and municipal legislation
· Public service spirit, team spirit and excellent physical condition
· Proficiency in common IT tools (office software and email) and ability to use specific forestry and geomatics applications, such as Lotus Notes / Sylvdégâts, Arview Geonis, ForstBar Latschbacher
· Knowledge of public administration is an asset
Special conditions:
· Holder of a permit for the use of toxic products
· Holder of a category B driving licence (light vehicles)
· May be required to be on call
· Must be reachable by mobile phone
