The Research Office supports the EPFL research community by providing information on funding opportunities and provides support with application processes and contracting of public and non-profit funding. It also advises on ethical issues in research and supports ethical approval processes. Additionally, the office manages large collaborative research projects, research funding schemes, and mobility programmes.
As a Project Manager within the Programme Management team, your primary responsibility will be to manage several large research funding schemes (e.g. calls for proposals) and/or collaborative research projects.
Under the direct supervision of the head of the Programme Management team, you will manage and implement research funding programmes and/or collaborative research projects, from the start of the project, through implementation and post-award.
Your main responsibilities will include the following:
- Defining the research funding programme, prepare call documents, launch the calls for proposals, perform eligibility and ethics checks, coordinate the evaluation and selection process, follow up on (scientific and financial) reporting requirements and payments.
- Managing collaborative research projects/consortia and facilitate communication among consortium partners, with a focus on overall coordination, financial reporting, and communication.
- Ensuring timely and high-quality implementation of the deliverables of the programme/collaborative project as well as compliance with ethics, EPFL institutional policies and funder requirements.
- Coordinating closely with faculty members, central services, donors and internal/external stakeholders and call applicants.
- Contributing to transversal activities of the Research Office and supporting team heads and unit managers as required.
- Master's degree (or equivalent).
- Experience in grant management and/or research funding programmes.
- Experience in project management.
- Strong organisational and project management skills and an interest in providing high quality support.
- Numerical and budgeting skills.
- Experience in developing communication activities.
- Solution oriented approach, with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders at different organisational levels.
- Ability to work proactively and autonomously, while collaborating well within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French.
