About the job
Our client is an established social foundation in Basel. It supports people whose lives do not always follow orderly paths and provides its services on behalf of the public sector as well as with the help of third-party funds.
To ensure this commitment works reliably, precise, well-organised support processes designed according to business management principles are needed in the background in administration and accounting. We are looking for a commercial professional who is as confident with numbers as in a service-oriented office organisation, who wants to understand contexts and consciously chooses a work environment with social relevance.
A professional certificate is not required. What is needed is solid accounting practice combined with a contemporary generalist role in the secretarial work of an umbrella organisation, the willingness to engage with special financing and billing models, and the desire to take responsibility beyond one’s own chart of accounts.
We are looking immediately, initially temporarily and with a prospect of permanent employment, for a
Clerk in Finance and Accounting as well as Generalist in Administration 60-70% - where numbers must add up because people rely on them...
Your tasks include:
- Accounts receivable and payable for several affiliated operations
- Invoicing, dunning and preparation of payment transactions
- Posting of bank, postal and cash transactions
- Control, reconciliation and clearing tasks
- Assistance with quarterly and annual financial statements, budgeting and preparation of key figures
- Processing of cost approvals and publicly funded services
- Support with entries and exits, insurance cases and general personnel administration as well as coordination of civil service administration
- Maintenance of data and master information in Abacus as well as other specialised applications

Your profile
- You have a commercial education and ideally further training as a clerk in finance and accounting. However, the number of your diplomas is not decisive, but your practical confidence in the day-to-day business of diverse and exciting specialist areas
- You enjoy working with numbers and would like to contribute your proven secretarial experience at the same time
- You work carefully, quickly grasp new contexts and are interested in how service contracts, cost approvals and third-party funds are represented in accounting in a social enterprise. Knowledge of Abacus is an advantage
- Your oral and written communication is confident and polished
- You should also feel comfortable digitally. The computer is neither a necessary evil nor a natural enemy for you, but a working tool whose possibilities you use skilfully. At the same time, you are flexible enough to answer a phone, close an administrative gap or pitch in where your support is currently needed
A workplace without a glossy facade:
Your workplace is centrally located with good public transport connections in a building where people are supported and cared for. You do not take on a caregiving role. Nevertheless, the social mission is tangible in everyday life.
Life and work happen in the building. Accordingly, it can be lively at times. Openness, respect and a professional, unflustered approach are required.
You share the office with three other people, and it is not always completely quiet. Therefore, you bring consideration, flexibility, concentration and discretion.
Interested? Then I look forward to your application. Have questions? Just give me a call.
