For our Communications Team, we are looking for a:

We are seeking an experienced and talented Head of External Communications to lead our media efforts and manage a team of 3 communications professionals. As the Head of External Communications, you will be responsible for conceiving and implementing comprehensive external communication and thought leadership strategies that effectively promote EHL’s brand, position EHL as a trusted leader in the hospitality industry and beyond, and drive engagement with key stakeholders. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, exceptional communication skills, and strong leadership capabilities.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic external communication plans that align with the organization's objectives and target audiences. Develop a yearly editorial calendar with strategic themes to promote and define PR angles that could resonate with global external audiences.
  • Cultivate relationships with global media representatives and journalists, proactively identify media opportunities, and effectively respond to media inquiries to secure positive coverage for the organization.
  • Develop external communication strategies to raise EHL’s thought leadership across all business units and ensure its proper execution, including PR, rankings and industry events.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including board members, executive leadership team members and department heads, to align external communication efforts with organizational goals and messaging.
  • Prepare key spokespersons for media interviews by conducting yearly media trainings and preparing briefing documents for each interview with suggested questions and official answers.
  • Lead the creation of compelling and engaging content across various channels, such as annual industry reports, press releases, press articles, media kit and other communication materials.
  • Define policies and procedures for general media enquiries, PR crisis, certification scheme and use of EHL brand name in media
  • Develop crisis communication protocols and official statements in collaboration with executive leadership team members to effectively manage and respond to potential reputational risks and issues.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of external communication initiatives and PR agencies, using data and analytics to inform future strategies and tactics.
  • Oversee a team of 3 communications professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to ensure their professional growth and the achievement of team goals.
  • Manage a network of global PR consultants (>6 agencies) located in EHL’s priority markets.

Who you are?

  • Master's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in external communications, public relations, or a similar role, with demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing successful communication strategies.
  • Strong media relations experience, with a solid network of media contacts and the ability to secure positive media coverage especially in the French and Swiss German part of Switzerland.
  • Native German (oral and written) , Fluent in French and English (oral and written)
  • Strong leadership abilities with proven track record in managing a team and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Experience in crisis communication and public relations is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different target audiences and channels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
