DIRECTOR

Caritas Vaud is a non-profit association, working for and with people in situations of social or economic hardship, to concretely improve their living conditions, promote their autonomy and foster their inclusion. It offers a wide range of services including direct aid (food and clothing), emergency and transitional accommodation, social intervention and guidance services as well as integration measures. Its intervention teams consist of around one hundred employees and more than 600 volunteers. Following the upcoming retirement of the current post holder, the Committee is seeking a new:

Reporting to the committee, you will ensure, in connection with the management, the operational leadership of the association, respecting its values, mission and raison d’être.

Your responsibilities

• Ensure, together with management, the implementation of Caritas Vaud’s strategy, anticipate social, institutional and political developments and propose adaptations to the association’s positioning.
• Ensure compliance with the legal, statutory and regulatory framework of the social sector, as well as the principles of good governance.
• Using existing management, monitoring and evaluation tools, guarantee the effectiveness and efficiency of the resources committed, without compromising Caritas Vaud’s missions.
• Lead and support the multidisciplinary management team, promote a human resources policy aligned with the organisation’s values; encourage participative management, a respectful working environment and skills development.
• Ensure the smooth running of services and projects aiming for a significant social impact.
• Represent management at committee meetings, submit matters within its competence, bring to its attention any relevant elements for strategic leadership, and ensure the implementation of its decisions.
• Represent the organisation with authorities, institutional partners, associative networks and funders; coordinate fundraising efforts.
• Enhance Caritas Vaud’s visibility through engaging communication, including via social media.

Your profile

• University or HES degree (master’s level or deemed equivalent) in social work, social sciences, management or law.
• Proven experience (8 to 10 years) in a management role, ideally in the social, para-statal or associative sector, including strategic leadership, managing complex projects and financial management.
• Demonstrated experience in participative management.
• Good knowledge of the Vaud and Romandy social and institutional network and experience in securing public and/or private funding.
• Strong sensitivity to social issues and adherence to Caritas values.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in French, good knowledge of German and negotiation skills.
• Strategic vision, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to anticipate.
