IT Security Intern - Malware Propagation - Internship between 6 and 8 months - 100%
As an IT security intern specialising in mathematical modelling applied to cybersecurity, you will analyse the propagation of malware within a corporate network using models inspired by epidemiology to simulate attack scenarios and identify critical control points.
What you do on a daily basis
You will conduct a review of epidemiological models applied to computer networks such as SIR, SEIR or SIS, gather information related to the company’s network architecture, and participate in building a mathematical model of malware propagation in the form of a system of differential equations.
You will adapt the model to the specifics of a real IT infrastructure taking into account machine types, network segmentation, detection mechanisms, and malware replication speed. You will then run simulations of different attack scenarios to analyse their impacts over time and identify critical areas and assets of the network.
You will propose prevention, segmentation, isolation, and response strategies based on the simulation results. You will also develop a reusable simulation tool in Python and document the assumptions, limitations, results, and associated security recommendations.
What you bring to the team
You hold a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics, cybersecurity or an equivalent field and are currently pursuing a Master’s in IT cybersecurity, data science, applied mathematics or a related field, seeking an internship to validate your degree through ECTS credits.
You have knowledge of mathematical modelling and numerical simulation. You are proficient in Python development, especially the NumPy, SciPy and Matplotlib libraries, and have basic knowledge of cybersecurity applied to corporate networks.
Meticulous and with good analytical skills, you are able to present technical results clearly and in a structured manner. You are fluent in French and have excellent technical knowledge of English.
Your benefits
- 40 hours per week for a 100% workload
- Flexible working hours
- Collaborative, egalitarian and respectful work environment
- Internal professional training
