As Technology Transfer Manger within the Technology Transfer Office, you manage, protect and license EPFL's intellectual property, in particular in the fields of ICT, artificial intelligence software, data sciences, and electrical engineering. You are in charge of prospecting, negotiating and drafting agreements with industrial partners, including research collaborations and licenses.
- Promote and develop prospects for technology transfer and licensing
- Evaluate inventions and software of industrial interest, participate in defining the protection and commercialization strategy (patents, licenses, etc.), monitor its execution and manage its administrative and financial aspects (profits & losses)
- Negotiate and draft contracts with companies, in English and French language, relating to collaborations, technology transfer agreements, options and licenses, monitor and manage the execution of these contracts and the post-deal activities (fees, royalties, equity revenues and distributions according to EPFL directives)
- Monitor and coordinate activities in connection with patent attorneys and offices, including filing and prosecution
- Train and advise researchers and entrepreneurs of start-up projects about management, protection and enhancement of EPFL intellectual property
- Create opportunities to de-risk and accelerate technologies with proof-of-concept funds
- MSc or PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer and communication sciences, additional degree in IP law a plus
- Proven industrial and research experiences, minimum 5 years
- Demonstrated skills in the fields of software, data sciences, artificial intelligence, electrical engineering and related applications
- Confirmed experience in new products development or technology scouting in high-tech companies or start-ups
- Additional practices of negotiating sponsored research agreements, licenses and managing patent matters are an asset
- Oral and written fluency required in French and English
- Very good communication, negotiation, drafting and project management skills
- Interest in the promotion of scientific research, contact with companies, legal aspects related to technology transfer and intellectual property are a necessary basis
