Our client is a global consumer goods company with multiple manufacturing plants and distributions centers across the globe. To strengthen their travel retail supply chain operations globally, we are recruiting a Distribution Expansion Project Manager (m/f).

Description

The projects focus on a long-term enhancement of the travel retail supply chain into a state-of-the-art distribution network, which can absorb the Travel Retail business volatility and adaptable to changing trends. The distribution network will be modular and further scalable, aligned with the growth rate of the business unit.

The Distribution Expansion Project Manager will plan and realize the setup of new distribution centers (owned and/or 3PL managed) as well as expand and refurbish existing distribution operations.

Project Manager will report to the Program Director and will lead new international capacity expansion projects in the distribution area. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the projects (concept development, detailed planning, and realization - up to go live and stabilization) globally:

1) Cover and execute the full project cycle including:

  • Data analysis
  • Cost benefit analysis and business case development
  • Concept planning, specification, contracting
  • Detailed design and process development, building erecting & system installation
  • IT integration and testing
  • Successful ramp up of systems and operations

2) Lead sub-project streams and/or 3PL partners throughout the project span and have an oversight on:

  • Building construction
  • Intra-logistics and logistics engineering
  • Logistic operations
  • Warehouse management system
  • IT and system integration

3) Additionally, have an oversight on the following areas:

  • Be responsible for the overall project budget, timeline, quality and resource management
  • Lead project related contract and claim management topics
  • Act as the change and the communication manager
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders throughout the project cycle
  • Report regularly the project progress to senior management, whilst aligning project goals with overall company goals
  • Deliver state-of-the-art facilities and processes
  • Standardize overall concepts and technical solutions

Profile

The selected candidate for the role must bring an excellent and proven Senior Project Management experience in setting up distribution centers (Owned or 3PL) in the logistics and/or manufacturing environments. The hired candidate should have a university degree (combined with an MBA is preferred) in logistics, supply chain, engineering or a similar education and at least 10 years of experience in a project lead role within a comparable position.

For this position we require a business fluency in English as well as proficiency in German. Japanese language skills would be beneficial. International experience with cultural knowledge in Asian region rounds the ideal profile. Exposure to 3PLs Management, with Lean Management & Lean Logistic as well as Good Logistics Operations will provide the ideal candidate an advantage to execute the position accordingly. Expertise in Microsoft Office tools as well as in project management software tools are required. Good knowledge of WMS and ERP (e.g. SAP) is desired. Finally, up to 40-50% business travel is also expected to manage and support the projects globally.
