The Operations service manages and operates the real estate infrastructure and user services at EPFL. It is composed of around 80 employees active in HVAC-MCR technologies, Building Maintenance as well as concierge and caretaking services.
The newly created Building Management Systems (BMS) unit brings together the MCR Operations and Supervision-Security groups. It currently consists of 8 employees covering the installations of:
• MCR (Building Automation)
• Supervision of technical installations and security
• Hypervision
• Alarm transmission
• Access control
• Fire
• Burglary
• DATI
• CCTV
Your tasks and responsibilities as Head of Building Management Systems Unit (BMS) will be to:
- Lead the Building Management Systems Unit (BMS) by defining priorities, planning activities and ensuring the achievement of service objectives, respecting EPFL's values and culture.
- Manage human resources, workload, budget and unit resources to ensure efficient and sustainable operation.
- Define the strategy for the evolution of systems and installations in the domain, anticipating the needs of EPFL's technical infrastructures.
- Ensure the smooth progress of the unit's projects to guarantee compliance with cost and deadline objectives.
- Coordinate the operation, maintenance and evolution of associated software and infrastructures.
- Collaborate closely with various EPFL services related to different activity domains.
- Conduct technical and interdisciplinary meetings, validate orders in accordance with current procedures.
- Participate in technological and regulatory monitoring in your fields to ensure the evolution of solutions according to best practices and current requirements.
- Supervise, support and develop the skills of the unit's employees, notably through performance reviews, identifying training needs and supporting their professional development.
- Provide on-call service if necessary
- Engineering degree from a University of Applied Sciences or ES technician in electricity, IT, automation, or equivalent training
- Proven experience in the development or operation of technical or security supervision (SCADA) systems such as PC Vue, Panorama, Control Maestro for example
- Good knowledge of Building Automation, Smart Building, mastery of the components of these systems, architectures and field communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, among others)
- Good knowledge of IT infrastructures (virtualisation, security, containerisation, ...)
- Good knowledge of security installations such as fire/burglary, access control, CCTV
- Proven ability to plan (roadmap, lifecycle, resources, ...), analyse and write
- Capable of drafting technical specifications
- Confirmed aptitude in managing technical teams
- Rigorous, autonomous and with good communication skills, able to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Open-minded, attentive and proactive, you will be able to advance projects with relevance and creativity
- Very good command of French, English level B2
